HiTalent Recruitment is seeking an experienced Aboriginal Liaison Officer to join a respected not-for-profit organisation in the New England & North West region that delivers a range of programs supporting families, children, and communities.
This is a permanent part-time opportunity offering the chance to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients through culturally informed, holistic, and community-connected services.

In this role, you will walk alongside clients, providing culturally safe support, advocacy, and connection to internal and external services. You will also play a key role in strengthening relationships with local Elders, community organisations, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations to support culturally responsive service delivery.
Reporting to the Executive Manager – Family, Wellbeing & Justice, you will be responsible for:
Providing culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients accessing services.
Supporting clients to navigate systems by providing information, advocacy, and referrals to internal and external supports.
Working alongside clients to strengthen engagement with services and promote positive outcomes.
Building and maintaining respectful relationships with community Elders, Aboriginal organisations, and stakeholders.
Supporting staff to strengthen culturally safe practice and community connection.
Participating in community events, consultations, and partnership activities as required.
Maintaining accurate client records, case notes, and referral documentation in line with organisational and funding requirements.
Contributing to continuous improvement and culturally responsive service delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
Strong connections with local Aboriginal communities, Elders, or Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities, and kinship systems.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly in community settings.
Ability to maintain accurate records and work within organisational policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
Certificate IV or higher in Community Services, Social Work, Aboriginal Health, or a related field.
Desirable:
Experience supporting or co-facilitating group programs, workshops, or community activities.
Experience assisting clients to access government or community services, including forms and applications.
Experience contributing to community engagement or consultation activities.
