This organisation is committed to making a positive impact in the community and is seeking dedicated Identified Peer Workers to assist with individuals with mental health challenges, specifically within the Aboriginal community.

Join a multi-disciplinary team at a Mental Health Service, delivering essential clinical and psychosocial support services to the community. This government initiative is designed to offer accessible, free mental health care.As a Peer Worker, you will use your lived experience of mental health challenges to provide empathetic, person-centred support to individuals in need. The service offers a safe, inclusive environment for people experiencing crisis, emotional distress, or early signs of mental health deterioration. Peer Workers work closely with clinicians, service managers, and team leaders to support holistic recovery.

Job Duties

  • Use your lived experience to support others on their mental health journey

  • Provide empathy, encouragement, and hope from a peer perspective

  • Build safe and trusting relationships with clients

  • Support individuals to set and work towards personal recovery goals

  • Help run group programs that build connection and life skills

  • Assist clients to access services like Centrelink, housing, NDIS, and healthcare

  • Advocate for client needs with service providers

  • Work closely with a team of clinicians and support workers

  • Keep clear and accurate notes and records

  • Take part in regular training, supervision, and team meetings
