Casework Assistant – Out of Home Care (OOHC)

HiTalent Recruitment is proud to be partnering exclusively with a leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation based in Western Sydney. This organisation delivers holistic, culturally safe services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families across OOHC, early intervention, preservation, after care, and cultural connections programs.
They are currently seeking a Casework Assistant to join their Out of Home Care (OOHC) program. This is a key support role assisting caseworkers to ensure children and young people receive high-quality care aligned with their social, emotional, cultural, and developmental needs.
Support the OOHC Casework Team with a range of administrative, practical, and client-focused tasks
Use the MyStory case management system to maintain accurate records
Coordinate and track Life Story Work, Behaviour Support Plans, and Leaving Care plans
Organise and attend case planning meetings and document outcomes
Assist with arranging external services and appointments for children and young people
Maintain communication with birth families, carers, and key stakeholders
Draft high-quality reports and maintain physical and digital case files
Support data collection and assist with program evaluations
Monitor child protection issues and act in line with the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998
Work flexibly to meet with families before or after school hours if required
Participate in regular supervision and annual performance reviews
Attend team meetings and collaborate across programs to provide integrated support
Take responsibility for your own professional development and training
Follow Work Health & Safety protocols and uphold client rights policies
Assist with “one-off” events or special activities as needed
Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (requirement under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977)
Qualifications in Community Services or related experience in child and family support
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office and strong file management skills (physical and digital)
Knowledge of child protection, trauma, and the needs of children in care
Ability to work collaboratively with Community Services and other external agencies
Professional maturity, reliability, and a proactive approach
A valid NSW Driver’s Licence
Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
