HiTalent Recruitment is partnering with a respected community-based organisation to recruit an experienced Crisis Social Worker to join their specialist Domestic and Family Violence team in Canberra.

Provide critical support when it matters most. Help individuals and families navigate crisis, access safety, and build pathways to recovery.

This position operates on a rotating roster across seven days per week, with shifts scheduled between 7:00am and 11:00pm, offering variety and the opportunity to support clients when they need it most.

About the Role

As a Crisis Social Worker, you will provide immediate crisis intervention, risk assessment, case management, advocacy, and support services to adults, children, and young people experiencing domestic and family violence and other complex circumstances.

Working within a trauma-informed and client-centred framework, you will support individuals through periods of crisis while helping them access services, develop safety plans, and navigate legal, housing, health, and community support systems.

You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clients receive timely, holistic, and effective support while contributing to positive client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct crisis assessments, risk assessments, and safety planning

  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and ongoing case management support

  • Deliver trauma-informed support, advocacy, and referrals

  • Support clients to navigate legal, housing, health, and community services

  • Develop, implement, and review client support plans

  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and client documentation

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders

  • Participate in a rotating roster across seven days per week

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Degree qualification in Social Work

  • Experience working in crisis intervention, family violence, homelessness, child and family services, or related community services

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centred practice

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and safety planning

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Current Driver's Licence and Australian working rights

Highly Regarded

  • Experience within domestic and family violence services

  • Knowledge of the ACT community services sector

  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals and families experiencing complex needs

  • Experience working within crisis response or after-hours support services

Roster & Working Hours

This service operates 7 days per week, with rostered shifts between 7:00am and 11:00pm.

Successful candidates must be available to participate in a rotating roster, including:

  • Morning shifts

  • Afternoon shifts

  • Evening shifts

  • Weekend work as required

Penalty rates and applicable loadings apply in accordance with the relevant award or enterprise agreement.
