HiTalent Recruitment is partnering with a highly regarded, values-driven community organisation to recruit an experienced Counsellor, Social Worker, or Psychologist to support and advocate for individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault in Canberra.
This is a full-time or part-time opportunity, working Monday to Friday within a supportive, trauma-informed environment committed to making a genuine difference in the lives of survivors.

About the Role:
As a Counsellor Advocate, you will join a dedicated and compassionate team providing trauma-informed counselling, advocacy, and crisis response services to adults, children, and young people affected by domestic and sexual violence.
This position combines therapeutic support with practical advocacy, working from a strong survivor-centred and trauma-informed framework. You will support clients through recovery, crisis intervention, and navigating complex systems, including legal, medical, and justice pathways.
You will also contribute to community engagement, education initiatives, and sector collaboration activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver trauma-informed counselling and advocacy services face-to-face
• Provide crisis support, including participation in on-call and call-out services (training provided)
• Support clients navigating legal, medical, and community systems
• Develop and manage individual case plans
• Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and documentation
• Contribute to community education and sector engagement initiatives
• Work within an ethical, trauma-informed, and survivor-centred practice framework
What We’re Looking For:
• Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related discipline
• Experience supporting individuals impacted by domestic, family, or sexual violence
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed and client-centred practice
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills
• Ability to manage a caseload independently while working collaboratively within a team
• Eligibility to work in Australia
Desirable:
• Experience within advocacy or community services
• Knowledge of the ACT community services sector
