HiTalent Recruitment is looking for a Lived Experience Family Worker to join a well-respected and reputable not-for-profit organisation in Canberra that is funded to deliver inclusive mental health services to the community. This role offers salary packaging benefits, supervision and support. 
The role is a permanent full time opportunity. 

Are you a compassionate family worker, that has their own lived experience in mental health recovery? 

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in appropriately applying personal lived experiences with mental health recovery to aid young people’s families in reaching their recovery goals.

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Applying personal lived experiences with mental health recovery to aid families in reaching recovery goals
  • Providing education, training and individual support services
  • Providing outreach support to families, individually and in a group setting
  • Ensuring the families experience is recovery focused and follows family led goals

To be successful in this role, you will require: 

  • Working towards, willing to work towards, or completion of a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work.
  • Preferred Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Lived experience as a family member or carer for a person with mental illness.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the recovery process and ability to appropriately communicate a lived experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and maintain appropriate boundaries with families.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, independently manage time, plan, and organise own workload.
