KBHAC is a survivor-led Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation dedicated to supporting Stolen Generations Survivors, their families and Aboriginal communities through healing, truth-telling and culturally safe services.

As one of only a small number of Aboriginal-led organisations funded to deliver National Redress Support Services in Australia, KBHAC provides culturally responsive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people engaging with the National Redress Scheme.

About the Role

Reporting to the KinCare Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for the operational leadership, practice supervision and day-to-day management of KBHAC's National Redress Support Service.

You will lead a team of Redress Caseworkers delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed and person-centred support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Survivors engaging with the National Redress Scheme.

This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality case management, staff supervision, program compliance, workforce wellbeing and continuous service improvement while supporting the implementation of new systems and processes as part of KBHAC's organisational restructure.

Community engagement is a key component of the role. You will develop and implement a 12-month outreach strategy, build referral pathways, deliver public presentations and community workshops, and represent KBHAC across metropolitan and regional New South Wales.

The role includes regular outreach across Sydney, the Central Coast, Kempsey, Grafton, Yass and Goulburn, with planned travel and occasional overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and mentor a team of Redress Caseworkers.

  • Provide practice leadership, coaching, reflective supervision and performance development.

  • Allocate workloads and oversee complex case management.

  • Support staff wellbeing and implement strategies to manage vicarious trauma.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the National Redress Support Service.

  • Monitor program performance, KPIs, funding outcomes and service quality.

  • Ensure high-quality documentation and compliance using Flowlogic.

  • Prepare operational reports and contribute to continuous service improvement.

  • Develop and implement a proactive 12-month outreach strategy.

  • Deliver community presentations, workshops and awareness activities.

  • Increase referral pathways in line with funding requirements.

  • Build strong partnerships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, government agencies and specialist services.

  • Represent KBHAC at community forums, stakeholder meetings and professional networks.

  • Promote culturally safe, trauma-informed and survivor-led practice across the team.

  • Support organisational change through the implementation of new systems, processes and reporting structures.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person (Identified Position).

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Community Services or another Human Services discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the history and ongoing impacts of the Stolen Generations, institutional child sexual abuse and intergenerational trauma.

  • Experience working with Survivors of institutional care.

  • Minimum 3 years' leadership experience or 10 years' intensive case management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading trauma-informed teams.

  • Experience supervising, mentoring and developing staff.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and public speaking skills.

  • Strong organisational and operational leadership skills.

  • Current NSW Driver's Licence.

  • Working With Children Check.

  • National Police Check.

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.

  • Current First Aid Certificate.

  • Willingness to undertake regular outreach and overnight travel throughout NSW.

Highly Regarded

  • Experience working within the National Redress Scheme.

  • Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.

  • Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid.

  • Leadership or Management qualifications.

  • Experience using Flowlogic or similar client management systems.

Roster & Working Hours

This is a full-time fixed-term contract until 30 June 2027, based in Waterloo, Sydney NSW.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (38 hours per week).

The role includes regular outreach across Sydney, the Central Coast, Kempsey, Grafton, Yass and Goulburn, including occasional overnight travel, with accommodation and travel arrangements supported by KBHAC.
