HiTalent Recruitment is partnering with a respected community services organisation to recruit an experienced Counsellor to join their Supporting Adolescent Boys Program based in Moree.

About the Role

As a Counsellor, you will provide specialised therapeutic support to adolescent boys and young men who have been impacted by family and domestic violence.

Working within a trauma-informed and evidence-based framework, you will conduct assessments, develop individualised treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, and support participants to build emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy relationships.

You will work collaboratively with internal teams, families, community stakeholders, and external service providers to ensure participants receive coordinated and effective support while contributing to positive long-term outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of participants' therapeutic and support needs

  • Develop and implement individualised treatment and intervention plans
  • Deliver evidence-based counselling and therapeutic support services
  • Support young people impacted by family, domestic, and sexual violence
  • Conduct risk assessments and contribute to safety planning where required
  • Collaborate with families, carers, service providers, and community stakeholders
  • Coordinate referrals and maintain effective pathways to care
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and client documentation
  • Collect and maintain program data and participant outcome information
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, program evaluation, and best-practice service delivery
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and collaborative care planning

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum Diploma in Counselling
  • Demonstrated experience working within the community services sector
  • Experience supporting individuals impacted by family and domestic violence
  • Experience delivering therapeutic interventions and counselling services
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice
  • Experience working with young people and complex support needs
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with participants, families, and stakeholders
  • Current Driver's Licence and willingness to travel as required
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • National Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain)
  • Australian working rights

Highly Regarded

  • Experience working with adolescent boys and young men

  • Knowledge of family, domestic, and sexual violence frameworks
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and safety planning
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Understanding of regional and rural community service systems

Roster & Working Hours

This is a permanent full-time position based in Moree, NSW.

The role may involve travel within the local region to support participants, engage with stakeholders, and attend relevant meetings and community activities.
