Domestic Violence Social Worker

HiTalent Recruitment is seeking an experienced Domestic Violence Social Worker to join NFP in Canberra.

This is an opportunity to work within a highly regarded organisation providing critical support to individuals impacted by sexual violence and Domestic Violence.

As a Domestic Violence Social Worker, you will deliver high-quality, trauma-informed interventions, advocacy, and crisis support. The role includes participation in a crisis roster, including after-hours and call-out services.

You will work within a feminist, client-centred framework, supporting individuals through recovery and navigating complex systems such as legal and medical pathways.

Key Details

  • $51.00 per hour + super

  • Full-time position
  • Female-identified applicants encouraged to apply (requirement of the role)
  • Rotating roster between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm, including weekends
  • Flexibility available; however, full availability across 7 days is required

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver trauma-informed interventions, advocacy, and crisis support
  • Participate in crisis phone and on-call response (including after-hours)
  • Support clients navigating legal, medical, and support systems
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide referrals
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and data
  • Contribute to education, training, and community engagement

About You

  • Relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma, sexual or domestic violence
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed and feminist practice frameworks
  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and report-writing skills
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Commitment to a human rights-based, client-centred approach

Requirements

  • Current driver’s licence
  • Valid WWVP card
  • Willingness to participate in after-hours and crisis roster
  • Available to work weekends

Desirable

  • Experience within advocacy or community services
  • Knowledge of the ACT community services sector
