About the Role

As a Domestic Violence Social Worker, you will provide trauma-informed counselling, advocacy, crisis intervention, and support services to adults, children, and young people impacted by domestic and sexual violence.

Working within a survivor-centred framework, you will assist clients to navigate complex systems while supporting their recovery journey through evidence-based therapeutic interventions and practical advocacy.

You will also play an important role in community engagement, education, and collaborative sector initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver trauma-informed counselling and therapeutic support

  • Provide advocacy and practical assistance to clients

  • Support individuals navigating legal, medical, housing, and community services

  • Develop and manage client case plans

  • Participate in crisis response and on-call services (training provided)

  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and client documentation

  • Contribute to community education and awareness initiatives

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related discipline

  • Experience supporting individuals impacted by domestic, family, or sexual violence

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills

  • Ability to manage a caseload while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Current Australian working rights

Highly Regarded

  • Experience within advocacy, crisis response, or community services

  • Knowledge of the ACT community services sector

  • Experience working within specialist trauma or family violence services
