HiTalent Recruitment is partnering with a respected community services organisation to recruit an experienced Family Support Worker to join their Family Rural Resilience Program based in Tamworth.

About the Role

As a Family Support Worker, you will provide case management, care coordination, outreach support, and early intervention services to children, young people, and families participating in the Family Rural Resilience Program.

Working within a strengths-based and person-centred framework, you will support participants to build resilience, improve wellbeing, access appropriate services, and strengthen connections within their community.

You will work collaboratively with families, schools, health services, government agencies, and community organisations to ensure participants receive coordinated, holistic, and effective support while contributing to positive long-term outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide case management and care coordination to children, young people, and families

  • Deliver outreach support and connect participants with appropriate community services

  • Facilitate psycho-educational programs for children and young people aged 6–18 years

  • Provide early intervention and prevention-focused support services

  • Develop, implement, and review participant support plans

  • Support participants to build resilience, confidence, and community connections

  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and program documentation

  • Conduct regular participant monitoring and outcome reporting

  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, service providers, and community stakeholders

  • Participate in community development, mental health promotion, and educational activities

  • Contribute to program evaluation, continuous improvement, and quality initiatives

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Welfare, Psychology, Counselling, Human Services, or a related discipline

  • Experience working in family support, youth work, community services, case management, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of strengths-based, trauma-informed, and person-centred practice

  • Experience supporting vulnerable children, young people, and families

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report-writing skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities while working both independently and within a team

  • Current Driver's Licence

  • Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)

  • National Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain)

  • Australian working rights

Highly Regarded

  • Experience facilitating group programs or educational workshops

  • Knowledge of mental health, early intervention, and family support services

  • Experience working within rural or regional communities

  • Community development and stakeholder engagement experience

  • Understanding of child and family wellbeing frameworks

Roster & Working Hours

This is a part-time position working 30 hours per week.

Rostered working days include:

  • Monday

  • Tuesday

  • Wednesday

  • Thursday

The role involves community outreach and engagement across the Tamworth region as required.
